Neighbourhood

The harbour town of Veere exudes a very special charm - not least because the town is almost completely surrounded by water. The town centre is historically beautiful, with the large 15th-century Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk church and the tranquil cobblestone streets. They are surrounded by restored gabled houses and almost all lead to the central market square. Behind the small marina begins the biotope around the old rampart - a perfect place for a walk in the countryside. Numerous cosy cafés and restaurants invite you to stop off in Veere. In addition to a guided tour of the city's well-known and secret places, a boat tour is recommended: take a ride on one of the hundred-year-old hoogars, the typical Zeeland boats with brown sails, or take a one-hour round trip on the ferry on the Veerse Meer. After a tour, the evening can end perfectly at the marina overlooking the water. For swimmers and beach lovers, Veere also has its own narrow sandy beach with a separate swimming area that attracts many water sports enthusiasts and is also very suitable for children. Hikers also get their money's worth in Veere and will find a perfect mix of nature and exciting history in one of the many forests around Veere. Of course, Zeeland's many extensive beaches are also just a few minutes' drive away, as is the picturesque village of Domburg by the sea or the historic and picturesque city centre of Middelburg.
